The Diet Plans

The Food that we consume can be an important source of the electrolytes, nutrients and minerals that we need to function and heal on a day to day basis. It has the potential to balance our hormones and help us develop the immunity we need to fight bacterias, viruses, parasites, fungi, diseases such as heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer disease.

There are many types of diet plans (See below). A Holistic physician will evaluate your symptoms, examine you and order blood work to identify your nutritional deficiencies. He or she will create a customized diet plan that best fits your needs along with supplements to help your body heal itself. A Diet plan is always accompanied with lifestyle changes that are needed to enhance and sustain the diet plan.

Anti-inflammatory Diet

An anti-inflammatory diet is particularly helpful in those who have inflammatory conditions such as interstitial cystitis, inflammatory bowel disease, autoimmune diseases and cancer. It is also an excellent diet for those who want to avoid age related decline in organ function such as dementia.

Initial testing is needed to assess the degree of inflammation in the gut and the body.

In addition, to the diet, the holistic physician will add supplements to repair your inflammed gut as well as reduce the inflammation of the body organs. Supplements may also be needed to restore the gut flora.

DNA Diet

This is a diet based on genetic testing that can guide you and your holistic physician develop a customized diet plan for you. This is very helpful for those trying to loose weight.

Each person has a different genetic make-up. This make up determines how our bodies metabolize fats and carbohydrates. In addition, it also detemines the response of our bodies to different degees of exercise.

The holistic physician will need to do some baseline testing to assess other causes of weight gain such as thyroid and adrenal gland testing.

In addition to a customized diet and exercise plan, additional supplements may be needed to help and sustain weight loss.

Elimination Diet

Elimination diet is the diet of choice for those suffering from digestive problems, headaches, chronic sinus drainage, low energy, mood swings, depression, asthma, skin irritation, eczema, arthritis and asthma.

The Holistic physician will order testing prior to initiating the diet to assess the function of the gut and potential damage from food sensitivity as well as to assess other causes of the underlying health conditions. These tests will help determine the type of supplements that will be needed along with the diet to improve the underlying health conditions.

 Detox diet

The Detox diet is a very powerful diet for individuals that have been found to have been exposed to toxins through food, skin or inhalation. This diet allows the body to reduce exposure to toxins as well as improve its ability to get risd of toxins that are already stored in the body.

The holistic physician will assess exposure to different toxins as well as the capacity of the body to remove toxins. The liver, kidneys and skin are the primary organs that remove toxins from the body. Additional supplements are given to those who are found to have excess toxins or decreased ability to get rid of toxins.

Metabolic Diet

The metabolic diet is the diet of choice for those who have Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart disease. All these diseases effect the ability of the body to use the different types of food groups especially carbohydrates and fats. A metabolic diet plan helps individuals to balnce the food groups for optimizing the ability of the body to use the different foods for energy and prevent sudden elevation of blood sugars and cholesterol.

The initial blood work evaluation will assess the heart risk of individual to heart disease using multiple tests as well as as assessment of the body to handle blood sugar and cholesterol (oxidative stress). In addition to the diet, supplements are needed to improve the sensitivity of insulin as well as improve the body's oxidative stress.

Hormone balancing diet

A hormone balancing diet is prescribed for women who are experiencing menupausal symptoms, polycystic ovarian disease (PCOS), Premenstural Syndrome (PMS), Premenstural and Fibroids. The focus of the diet is to balance the estrogen and progesterone hormones.

The diet requires an initial evaluation of the hormone status of the individual including the different types of estrogens. The diet is accompanied by supplements to support and enhance the ability of the body to balance its hormones.

Ayurvedic Diet

The Ayurvedic diet is based on the Ayurvedic principles of prevention and healing. In Ayurveda, every individual's personality needs to be considered in addition to their symptoms. This individualized approach is very helpful to all those individuals who want to address the imbalances of the entire body as well as those who want to prevent any disease by understanding what type of diet suits their personality. This diet is also very helpful for those with stress, depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and anxiety disorders.

In addition to the diet plan the holistic physician may precribe herbal supplements, breathing exercises (Pranayama),  or recommend an essential oil massage (Abhyanga), yoga, meditation with specific mantras or special process of purification and cleansing involving pouring of essential oil on third eye and steam (Panchakarma).
